Children's and Household Tales contains many German folk tales, some of which have since become famous worldwide, including Rumplestiltskin, Snow White, Cinderella, Little Rad Cap (Little Red Riding Hood), Hansel and Gretel, and Rapunzel. Seventeen editions were published between 1812-1864, growing from 86 tales to over 200. Note that many of these tales were much darker in tone in the original versions than in the 'sanitized' versions known today, and were not originally intended for children.
